BarTender introduces Virtual Print Queue and expands print history to tighten label printing control
Building off the launch of integrated labeling and tracking – enabling items to be automatically registered the moment a label is printed – our next focus was giving teams greater control over their printing operations. The latest release of BarTender Cloud Labeling streamlines print management and ensures label accuracy by introducing the Virtual Print Queue, expanding print history, and adding multi-page Intelligent Forms.
Minimize high-volume printing bottlenecks
We are excited to introduce the Virtual Print Queue, a centralized way to manage high-volume printing operations. Users can now quickly locate queued jobs by printer, monitor printer-specific activity, and take immediate action when issues arise – all from a single, user-friendly interface.
Whether a job needs to be paused due to an error, re-prioritized to meet production demands, or reviewed before printing, teams can easily manage activity directly from the printer’s dedicated “Printer Details” view. This streamlines management of your high-volume printing operations, providing greater control and reducing friction.
To further simplify print management, this release also adds 9 new Actions API endpoints to programmatically manage queues and print jobs, eliminating the need for manual queue intervention.
New Queue-level actions
- Cancel Print Job Queue: cancel and remove all print jobs associated with a printer
- Get All Print Queues: retrieve the status of all print queues
- Get Print Queue: retrieve the status of all print jobs associated with a printer
- Pause Print Queue: pause all print jobs associated with a printer
- Resume Print Queue: resume all print jobs associated with a printer
New Job-level actions
- Cancel Print Job: cancel the specified print job
- Get Print Job Status: retrieve the status of a specified print job
- Hold Print Job: hold the specified print job
- Release Print Job: release the specified print job
Retain longer records of your print activities to ensure compliance
Administrators can now retain print activity records for longer periods, providing greater historical visibility into your labeling operations for compliance, auditing, and regulatory requirements. Custom retention settings make it easy to define how long print job history is stored using configurable date ranges.
Additionally, this release adds customizable deleted-file retention setting, allowing administrators to control how long deleted files and documents remain recoverable before being permanently removed.
Simplify complex label printing for distributed, remote teams
We have expanded the capabilities of Intelligent Forms to better support complex label printing workflows across distributed teams, remote facilities, and external suppliers. With new multi-page form support, teams can break large or complex forms into logical, step-by-step sections that simplify data entry and ensure label accuracy – no matter the complexity of the label.
When building an Intelligent Form, users can now create multiple pages, customize page order, and assign clear page names for easier navigation. Each page can contain multiple components and can be mapped to the same label or different label depending on operational requirements.
