Seagull Software launches BarTender 12 and delivers the industry’s most flexible, connected, and scalable labeling platform for companies of every size in any industry
Innovative hybrid labeling architecture combined with simplified cloud printing and enterprise integration unlocks new opportunities for BarTender customers.
Redmond, WA – March 4, 2026 - Seagull Software today announced the release of BarTender 12, a major evolution of its globally trusted labeling software used by more than 250,000 organizations. Designed to address increasing operational complexity, multi-site collaboration, and globalized supply chains, BarTender 12 introduces an innovative hybrid labeling architecture—seamlessly connecting cloud-based design and coordination with on-premises operational printing. The release positions BarTender at the center of a rapidly accelerating shift: that labeling is no longer a tactical output, but a strategic pillar supporting modern product identity, traceability, compliance, supply chain fulfillment, and enterprise-wide digital transformation.
“BarTender 12 represents a huge leap for our customers,” said Jeff Hart, CEO of Seagull Software. “Organizations are being forced to operate with unprecedented agility, and labeling can no longer be tied to a single system, location, or architecture. Our hybrid platform meets customers where they are—on-premises, in the cloud, or both—while giving them the freedom to scale and evolve. Just as importantly, it strengthens supplier labeling compliance by ensuring standardized, governed label data across trading partners—reducing risk, chargebacks, and downstream disruption.”
BarTender 12 Hybrid Approach & Architecture
BarTender 12’s hybrid labeling architecture blends the collaboration and accelerated innovation advantages of cloud with practical control and resilience required for many on-premises printing environments. Design collaboration can happen across teams and geographies to encode policy and compliance while operators can print labels locally and accurately — especially where the network is locked down or the conventional network can be limited?
- BarTender customers will be able to use and consume new cloud capabilities as they become available to augment their existing labeling operations. On-premises subscription customers can experience local control while adding new and future capabilities they consume via the cloud that simply lets them get more from BarTender.
- Intelligent Forms allow operators—no matter their skill level—to print easily and accurately from simple forms ensuring that the right label is printed every time, across every location, including teams in the field or even across supplier networks.
- Intelligent Forms Builder makes it easy to create rich, interactive forms, associate them with compliant label templates, assign them to users, and share them quickly and easily. Reduced complexity ensures operations staff deliver accurate and compliant labels faster, with greater consistency, in their daily workflows.
“For too long, organizations have been forced to compromise their needs by choosing cloud labeling for collaboration and distributed label management or on-premises labeling to meet their connectivity and security needs. “said Dan Quagliana, SVP of Product at Seagull Software. “Hybrid labeling with BarTender changes the game by bridging cloud and on-premises deployment, bringing the best of both worlds, delivered to match any business size, scale, or industry need so that our customers can label their way, today and as their labeling needs evolve.”
Elevated Label Print & Standards Support
BarTender 12 enhances print capabilities to reduce infrastructure overhead while expanding support for supply-chain standards including:
- Zebra Print DNA Cloud Connect printer support to streamline deployment and eliminate traditional print-server complexity, building on industry-leading driver support for over 12,000 printers from Zebra, TSC, Honeywell, Toshiba, and more.
- Amazon Transparency support that simplifies the creation and printing of codes to deter counterfeits and strengthen product authenticity for organizations embracing this fast-growing commerce initiative.
Enterprise Integration
BarTender 12 continues to lead the way with integration capabilities that ensure labeling operations work seamlessly with mission-critical business workflows for greater accuracy, automation, and resilience. New BarTender integration includes:
- File Drop Automation that triggers print jobs by simply dropping CSV, XML, or JSON files into a designated local or network folder.
- Pre-built connectors for Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, and Workday that enable printing directly from core business applications without complicated integration code or customization.
Broader Enterprise Security & Identity Management
With expanded Microsoft Entra ID SSO support—alongside PingID and OAuth 2.0 identity providers—BarTender 12 provides strong support for user authentication, global access control, and enterprise deployment scalability.
These enhancements reinforce BarTender’s continued leadership in compliance, security, and reliability, supporting more scalable IT operational compliance and efficiency for customers across regulated industries and high-volume environments.
BarTender Track & Trace: Expanding Beyond the Label
BarTender Track & Trace, which helps organization count, find, and report on virtually any item or asset they’ve labeled, also introduces key enhancements:
- A new Report Dashboard delivers intuitive visibility into items and assets moving through facilities, providing organizations with faster insights into location, movement, and inventory behaviors.
This expansion reflects a broader industry need: labeling and traceability systems must work together, not in silos. Analysts and solution providers forecast rapid growth in cloud-connected labeling, intelligent identification technologies, and digital supply chain integration. BarTender 12 was engineered to meet these global shifts head-on.
BarTender 12 is available now through Seagull Software’s global partner ecosystem and direct channels.
