Scan. Verify. Track. A simpler way to move items between zones

Moving inventory, equipment, assets, and other items throughout a facility takes coordination. BarTender Track & Trace helps simplify the process, giving operators a more seamless way to move items between zones while maintaining visibility and traceability.

The October update makes it easier to move items, verify their destinations, and maintain accurate records so teams can find what they need, where they need it.

Major Release Highlights

Move items between zones as easily as scanning a QR code

Moving items from one operational zone to another should be straightforward, especially when handling many items at once. The new Move task in the Track & Trace mobile app enables operators to record item movements with a simple, guided scanning workflow.

To complete a movement, operators simply:

  1. Scan the destination zone’s QR code label
  2. Scan the labels on the items being moved
  3. Review and confirm the movement details

Once completed, the item movement generates an EPCIS event, creating a traceable record of the items moved and their associated activity.

Verify destination zones and maintain item-level visibility

Knowing where to find certain equipment, items, and inventory is only half the battle. Teams also need to know where items belong and sure movements are recorded accurately.

The Site Configuration Dashboard now allows site manager to generate printable QR code labels for individual zones or all within a site. These destination zone labels make it easier for operators to identify zones and log item-level activity accurately.

Location setup has also been improved with address suggestions that automatically populate related geographic information based on the selected address, reducing manual data entry and streamlining site configuration.

Support a broader range of serialization requirements

Different products and items have different identification requirements. The Serialization API now supports the DSGTIN family, including lot and expiration information and additional GS1 Application Identifier data, along with support for externally supplied serial numbers.

We have also expanded support for non-GS1-based identifiers through GID-based serialization, extending identification options for internally managed assets.

These additions give organizations more flexibility to support their serialization and traceability needs across a wider range of products, inventory, and other items.

Get product help without interrupting your workflow

It is common to have questions come up during tasks. To help all users find the information they need quickly, we have added a new “Help” icon in the navigation to access product resources, including guided walkthroughs, technical documentation, release updates, etc.
